A BX optical module is a bidirectional (BiDi) SFP transceiver that enables Gigabit Ethernet communication over a single strand of single-mode fiber using different wavelengths for transmitting and receiving.

BX modules, also known as 1000BASE-BX SFPs, are designed for single-fiber bidirectional transmission.
